The second un-official Redditor wedding photography meetup took place this year in Palm Springs. It was really lovely seeing some familiar faces from last years trip and finally meeting online friends in person. One of my favourite parts of the trip was the open environment between peers, it’s amazing being surrounded by so many talented photographers and being able to share new ideas and get inspired from each other.
We did a styled shoot at The Ruins, organized by Kyndall Elliott. I really loved the celestial themed details and all the different bouquets and flowers… so much work was put into this shoot and Kyndall was the real MVP of the trip!
Bombay Beach was my favourite place.. In the 1950’s, this resort town was full of visitors and locals, enjoying the water of the Salton Sea, golf courses and nightlife. In the 1970’s the water became polluted and floodings brought the poisoned water into town. It was soon abandoned and now only bloggers and tourist frequent the city. We had a chance to shoot at the old drive in theatre and on the beach… I love the old door frames that still stand!
We also made a trip to Salvation Mountain. This man made mountain is covered in hundreds of thousands of gallons of paint, the results of an artists dream. Local resident Leonard Knight worked on the mountain for years before passing away earlier this decade and since then a group of volunteers have been working to protect and maintain the site. Recently, a public charity was created to preserve and continue Leonard’s dream.
Check out some of the other photographer’s from the trip!
