Where to get married in Vancouver – Vancouver Wedding Venues part I
I was invited by Vancouver wedding planner Cristie from Umbrella Events Vancouver to visit some venues around Vancouver and got to scope out the best wedding venues in Vancouver to get married. It was really lovely to get to know some of the wedding and event coordinators at all these fantastic locations!
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
This classical Chinese garden is located in the heart of Downtown Vancouver and is the first Chinese scholars garden to be built outside of China. The garden incorporates the principles of Feng shui and Taoism and uses the beauty of opposites throughout the garden. The garden is split with a feminine and masculine side and this opposites theme is played out to the last detail, in the tiles on the floor and the flora in the gardens.
The photos below of the garden are taken in mid March and show what the gardens are like in early spring. Jesse and I visited the gardens last summer, when the garden was even more lush!
Weddings at the Vancouver Aquarium
The Vancouver Aquarium is a unique location for weddings. Perfect for the non-classical bride, or a marine enthusiast, this stunning venue can accommodate hundreds of guests, spread throughout the aquarium each guests get’s a unique view of the aquatic life. I loved taking photographs of the jellyfish and dolphins! Chester the false-killer whale would follow me around and smile for my camera (apparently he was attracted to my white shirt and the red dot of the camera).
Stanley Park Pavilion Weddings
Located in the heart of Stanley park, adjacent to Lord Stanley’s pub and the unique rock garden, The Stanley Park Pavilion was created to accommodate the growing guests at the Rock Gardens. I originally thought this location was an old house, but it turns out it has always been a public meeting place. It has been recently remodeled and the reception area has a cozy old fireplace and lovely view of the gardens. These photos show the house on a rainy day in Mid- march… it’s still pretty stunning for a winter wedding venue in Vancouver!
Vancouver Rowing Club Marina Wedding Location
This location has tons of charm and vintage appeal with stunning views of the city of Vancouver and right beside the lush Stanley Park. I love the wood floors, high ceilings and vintage charm this lovely location offers.
Art lovers weddings at the Chali-Rosso Art Gallery
With the aim of offering affordable original art, the gallery currently has sketches, drawings and prints by some of the greats- Salvador Dali and Jon Miro were my favourite of them any artists! It’s so interesting to see the thought process and works in progress by these amazing artists. The gallery is a great wedding venue with the ability to transform the space into anything with its removable walls and art.  This is a really unique downtown venue to get married, and a stunning alternative location.
Penthouse Event Suites
This is the perfect location for your chic rooftop wedding and events. With a stunning view of the North Shore mountains and city views this rooftop patio has everything you need for your special day! Unfortunately the patio wasn’t set up during out visit but Penthouse Event Suites website has some pictures of events and weddings!
